Chemestry - structure of atom

Atoms are really god damn small. Thats what she said.
  • their are protons neutrons an electrons in atom
  • protons are positive
  • electrons are negative
  • neutrons are neutral
  • the atomic number is the number of protons in atom.
  • mass number is number of protons and neutrons.
Stable atoms
  • stable atoms have a full outer shell
  • unstable atoms are atoms that have don't have a full outer shell

Chemestry - seperation of mixtures

Separation of mixtures
  • Filtration is used to separate a insoluble thing for a liquid eg sand an water.
  • Evaporation is used to seperate a soluble thing like salt from water.
  • Distillation is used to make WHISKEY an to seperate two different liquids with different boiling points. like ALCOHOL and water.
  • Chromatograpy is used to seperate some dissolved supstances in a mixture like ink in a pen
  • Crystalisation is wierd.
  • a mixture is when to or more substance are combined but could be taken away from each other.

Chemestry-states of matter and elements

solid   fixeed shape-cannot flow-strong forces between particles
liquid   not fixed-can flow-weak forces holding together
gas   not fixed shape-can flow-very weak forces holding together

General structure of solids, liquids and gases
  • Matter is made of atoms and molecules
  • The matter in a soli is held together in a rigid structure
  • The matter in a liquid are able to move around.
  • the matter in gas is free and can move around as it wants.

      Change of state
  • melting point is the temperature when a solid changes into a liquid.
  • boiling point is when a liquid changes into a gas.
      Elements
  • elements are substances that cannot be made simpler.
  • an atom is the smallest part of an element but still retains the properties. still has the same stuff in it.
  • a molecule is the smallest part of a element that is itself, eg two oxygen molecules that are bonded together
